International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women (also known as White Ribbon day) is part of a global movement to support women and girls who are the victims of domestic abuse. This year White Ribbon day is on 25th November, and marks the beginning of a 16 day campaign that aims to stop domestic violence against women and girls.
Wigan Council, which includes both Safeguarding Boards, were awarded White Ribbon status last year, and are asking all staff to make a pledge to support the campaign.
Staff are being asked to open up a conversation about domestic abuse and not to tolerate any unacceptable behaviour. More information about this Campaign can be found here White Ribbon Campaign (external link).
Wigan Council firmly believes that all forms of domestic violence and abuse is unacceptable and are committed to providing a safe and secure working environment for all employees.
