Reduce the chance of being bullied or harassed when you are out and about by taking a few precautions:
- Plan your journey and route. Avoid dimly lit or quiet areas
- Have a friend’s contact details on hand, just in case you need help
- If you do not feel safe, make your way quickly to somewhere you can get help, for example, the local police station
- Keep valuables out of sight
- Don’t accept lifts from strangers or someone who you have only recently met
- Know how to make an emergency call and be aware of quick exit routes
- If possible, be accompanied by family and friends.
